Description: The SportCityCult (SCC) project aims to rebuild the connection between the city and sport, rediscovering its potential as a tangible and intangible "capital". SCC intends to analyze how this capital produces sociocultural, educational, and symbolic effects (beyond the economic dimension) and the potential connections between the events’ political and sports practices (consolidated and emerging) between sport and the city image. The broader purpose of SCC is mapping the symbolic sports places of the city (from the end of the 1800s to today, taking into consideration some decisive turns related to the establishment of sports clubs, associations, and events) and their historical and political identities they are connected.
From this point of view, we intend to analyze the sporting city heritage according to the following investigation dimensions: a) Bologna tells itself (symbolic places, facts, people between past and present); b) Bologna imagines itself over time, i.e. the sporting image that the city transmits through websites and social media; c) Sporty Bologna, as it is perceived by those who live it, enjoy it, observe it.
