The “Giovanni Maria Bertin” Department of Education Studies uses a multidisciplinary approach, as specified by Italian Law 240/2010, and works alongside different disciplines including:

- anthropology
- English language
- historical and geographical disciplines
- medicine
- legal sciences.
Through the contribution of this interdisciplinary approach, the Department carries out research and training activities in the following areas:
- Education and training processes in scholastic, extra-curricular and professional development contexts;
- Lifelong learning aimed at empowering individual and social development, focusing on and respecting the differences between persons;
- Services aimed at promoting individual and social well-being as well as preventing and tackling disadvantages.
